Egg Freezing for Medical Reasons

Egg freezing has come a long way. Our research indicates that the success rates with new egg freezing techniques have improved tremendously and in some cases approach the rates seen with IVF using unfrozen eggs. With this method, after around 2 weeks of ovarian stimulation, eggs are collected with an outpatient needle aspiration procedure (egg retrieval), similar to standard IVF procedures. Eggs are then frozen by a process called vitrification.

We have recently analyzed success rates from over 1800 egg freezing patients and were able to calculate age-specific success rates. This means you are now able to enter your age, type of egg freezing (slow vs. vitrification) and number of eggs you have frozen into our new formula to know the odds of success specific to you. Please see our egg freezing success calculator here.
